LeBRON JAMES vs THE KND!

Sooper pal Van Partible (creator of Johnny Bravo) was digging through his vast underground archive and found this sooper cool Cartoon Network promo from way back in 2004: FYI... the KND would have totally kicked his butt IRL. LOL!

NICE ACTIVITY BOOK BLURB

Did you know that
Disney Television Animation
has it's own blog
with great little blurbs about
what's going on in all the
different productions?

OF COURSE YOU DIDN'T!
It's just for employee's.
Duh.

But if you don't tell anyone,
I'll share this post about
the activity book that Fish Hooks
Post Production Ninja
Kimberley Stover
wrote and took pics for:

Tom Warburton’s New Book

Fish Hooks congratulates Tom Warburton on the release of his
newest book for kids titled “Don’t Let the Pigeon Finish This
Activity Book!” Tom collaborated with Mo Willems on
this exciting and fun activity book based off of Mo’s best selling
“Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus.”  The book released on
Oct 2 and is full of 270 action packed activities for kids ages 4-12.
The book is now available on Amazon.com and if you’re lucky
and swing by the Empire Campus Tom just might sign the book
for your little kiddos. Congrats on this wonderful achievement Tom!

PRINTLAB SKETCHCARDS

I had fun drawling this
sketchcard of
Numbuh 60
this morning!

In fact,
I've been having fun drawing
ALL
the sketchcards
for the holiday
orders!

BUT
I've got a couple orders where
folks have forgotten to let me know
who they want their prints
inscribed to and which character
they'd like drawn on their sketchcards!
I sent e-mails asking but haven't heard back.
So if you ordered
form the PRINTLAB in the last couple days,
check you're paypal-linked e-mail address
and/or spam folders!

REMEMBER:
The one-per-person
free sketchcard
(with any printlab order)
is only available until January 1st!

DREAMWORKS PICNIC!

I love this time of year.

Not only is it the holidays...
but since award season is sneaking up on us,
all the animation studios
are cuddling up to say,

Hey, you!
Have you seen our film!
We love it and you should to!

So they send us free DVD's and invite us to screenings!
What's not to love?

Dreamworks
had an especially nice screening on
the Paramount Studios lot.

They showed
Madagascar 3
and
Rise of the Guardians
with a
really fun picnic inbetween!
(never mind how odd it is for us
former East Coasters to have a
 picnic in a balmy December)

They had a tree and and costumed Christmas carolers:

LOTS of food:

and elves:

But my favorite part of the event
was sneaking off to the Paramount Studios
New York City set.

Sure it looks like a real urban street:

But inside it looks like this:

SO COOL!

And it's a great place to play hide and seek
with your kids!

THANK YOU, DREAMWORKS!

What a fun event!

KUBRICK AT LACMA

Did you go to the
retrospective
at the

He's the guy that did all these movies:

Impressive, right?
But in the interest of full disclosure,
I'll come out and say it:

I don't love Kubrick's films.

I totally respect him as an artist
(because that's what he is)
but the pacing of his films
makes me sleepy.

That said,
Mr. Kubrick
is tough to beat visually.
The man absolutely pushed his craft
past whatever limits were in his way.
His sense of the epic was
GIHOOGIC!

But no matter how I feel about an artist,
(love, hate or meh)
I adore getting insight to their process.
And this exhibit did a wonderful job
of knitting together the threads that built
Kubrick's breadth of work.

There were scripts:

Storyboards:
(I LOVE storyboards)

Models:

Costumes:

And other stuff:

Love Kubrick or not...
it's a great exhibit that makes you want to run home
and watch his films.

Check it out if you get a chance.

artsy-fartsy
art:

KIDS NEXT VROOOM!

I wish I had better pictures of this,
but 600 years ago there was a
Cartoon Network contest where they were
giving way this car:

I've never seen it driving down the street.
I wonder who won it?

MAGIC THE GATHERING PROOF CARDS

I totally forgot about these!

When I was on the road for the
mini-tour,

While there,
I noticed a
shady-looking mustachioed
character sneaking up behind me:

I nearly brained him with one of
the billions of award statues laying about the house
until I realized it was
the sooper powered

Besides having a truly epic sketchbook to show off,
he had brought me a couple
Magic: The Gathering
artist proof cards
from the latest set he worked on.

You can tell they're proofs
(or printing tests)
by the white back on them:

But it's the
OTHER
side that's
worth the look:

Aaaaaaaawesome,
right?
But how stoopid was I to forget
to have him sign the cards?

Well,
I didn't make that mistake
the next day!

He was nice enough to
deal me some
old school MTG artist proofs
of cards he painted.

And I mos def got him to sign them:

Drool,
nerds,
DROOL!

KND TURNS 10!

Can you believe it?

It was 10 years ago today that
Codename: Kids Next Door
premiered
on Cartoon Network!

Operation: I.S.C.R.E.A.M
and
C.A.N.N.O.N
were the episodes that kicked things off
and we ended up going for 6 seasons,
2 specials,
a TV movie,
toys,
video games,
etc
etc
etc.

Who woulda thunk it?

Sooper big huge thanks to
ALL
the KND operatives
out there
who never grew up!
I love you all
AND...

I
love these shots of the
KND voice actors

(clockwise)
Ben Diskin (Numbuh One and Two)
Lauren Tom (Numbuh Three)
Dee Bradley Baker (Numbuh Four)
and
Cree Summer (Numbuh Five)
Taken at Cartoon Network many moons ago.

PIGEON'S ACTIVITY BOOK HITS THE INDIE BESTSELLER LIST

So
this totally
happened
last week:

Debuts for the week:
Hardcover Fiction
#8-Notorious Nineteen, by Janet Evanovich (9780345527745)
#11-The Forgotten, by David Baldacci (9780446573054)
Hardcover Nonfiction
#12-The Patriarch, by David Nasaw (9781594203763)
Children’s Interest
#11-Don't Let the Pigeon Finish This Activity Book! by Mo Willems (9781423133100)

Yup...
Pigeon's activity book hit the
INDIE BESTSELLER LIST!

How cool is
THAT?!

The reviews on Amazon have been sooper great, too.
Check out this one:

This activity book is a great addition to the Pigeon book series!
When we ordered it, I thought it was just going to be a coloring book.
I can tell you that it is SO much more! Not only are there coloring pages,
but there are cutouts for a puppet show, reading activities, and games!
All of the pages are perforated for easy tear-out,
so you can display your works of art.
I cannot wait to finish this activity book
(neither can my pigeon or my duckling)!

So like, yeah.
I'm a
BESTSELLING AUTHOR
now.

Never mind that I did so by surfing the coattails
of a sooper bestselling author and his already existing,
sooper bestselling characters.

But I'll take what I can get, darn it!

Anyway,
here are a couple pages from my sketchbook
when I was in the early stages
of beating out the story with Mo.

Don't be shy to pick up a couple dozen
copies of the book during the holidays
It's the PERFECT gift!
